The Learning Paper
Pioneering the concept of global education
The Learning Paper charity supports education of children and relieves poverty in developing
and third world countries. We are an independent charity registered in the UK and the USA.

We initiate projects and work to inspire and resource communities to create local ownership of
projects and to collaborate within the community with private and public sector organisations
to ensure their sustainability.
Around the world there are still over 100 million children out of school, including 58 million girls.
Yet there is overwhelming evidence that education – particularly for girls – can halt the spread of aids,
increase economic growth and break the cycle of poverty.
The Learning Paper aims to contribute to the aspiration of the Millennium Development Goal to
achieve Universal Primary Education by 2015.
Since 1999 we have completed a number of projects in Nigeria and Uganda through which 40,000
copies of the Learning Paper have been distributed to rural primary schools. Through our
programmes the Learning Paper has been read by 20,000 school pupils and 5,000 households
and impacted on 200 teachers.
We are currently planning projects to up scale the distributions in Uganda and looking
at the feasibility of distributions in Tanzania, Mozambique, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Burundi,
Somalia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Mali and Namibia.
The Learning Paper is grateful for the support form
Carbon Capital and
New Forests Company,
whom are Corporate Sponsors of the first edition of the Paper in Uganda.
A community of partners is created, comprising Corporate Sponsors,
NGO’s and the Public Sector, engaging and sharing their strengths, in meaningful
and sustainable projects.
